Nach den Russen werfen wir nun einen Blick auf die amerikanische Box – Bannon’s Boys – American Spearhead Force. Sie hat die gleiche Größe wie die sowjetische, 27x27x7cm und kostet nur 65€ – damit ist sie zwar billiger, beinhaltet aber auch weniger Panzer. Enthalten sind fünf M1 Abrams Panzer, zwei Cobra Helikopter, ein Satz Panzerkommandanten, ein M577 Special Objective, eine Schablone, ein Decalset und fünf Einheitskarten.

After the Russians we are going to take a look at the American Box – Bannon’s Boys – American Spearhead Force. It has the same size as the Russian one, 27x27x7cm for just 65€, which is cheaper as it contains less tanks. You will find five M1 Abrams tanks, two Cobra helicopters, one tank commaber sprue, one M577 special objective, one template, one decal sheet and five unit cards in it.

Das Gegenstück zum T-72 ist der M1 Abrams. Da diese im Spiel ziemlich teuer sind, wird man nicht ganz so viele Panzer aufstellen wie der Gegner. Der Gußrahmen dazu ist um einiges besser gestaltet als der des russischen Panzers: Die Angüsse sind kleiner und leicht zu entfernen. Auch der Zusammenbau erweist sich als einfach, mit nur einem Schwachpunkt: die Kanonenblende. Es ist besser, diese anzubringen bevor man das Geschützt selbst anklebt, da es sonst immer auf den Boden zeigt. Wenn die Blende bzw. das Rohr weiter nach oben zeigen soll, so klebt man an die untere Klebefläche der Kanonenblende ein kleines Stück Plastic Card/Polysterol. Des Weiteren empfehle ich die oberen Maschinengewehre erst nach der Bemalung anzukleben, da diese es erschweren, den Bereich darunter zu bemalen. Der fertige M1 ist, ohne die MGs, 2.7cm hoch, 10cm lang (das Geschütz mitgerechnet), und 3.6cm breit. Verglichen mit dem T-72 wirkt er größer und schwerer.

The counterpart to the T-72 is the M1 Abrams tank and you will always have less tanks than your opponent because they are quite expensive in the game. The design of the sprue is way better than those of the Russian tanks: They got smaller feed points, on areas where it is easy to clean them off. The Abrams is also easy to assemble with just one weak point: the gun mount. It is better to glue it first before you attach the barrel, or it will point to the ground all the time. If you want the gun mount to point higher, you can put a thin piece of plastic card on the downside. Furthermore I recommend to glue the MGs to the turrent after you painted it, because they are annoying and make it hard to reach some areas.
The assembled M1 is 2.7cm high without the MGs, 10cm long with the barrel and 3.6cm wide. Compared to the T-72 it looks way bigger and heavier.

Luftunterstützung erhält Bannon durch den AH-1 Cobra Attack Helikopter, welcher kleiner ist als der Hind. Der Rumpf ist 13cm lang, ohne Rotoren 3cm hoch und zusammen mit den Flügeln 3.4cm breit. Die zwei Rotorblätter haben eine Spannweite von 14.4cm. Wie bereits erwähnt sieht der AH-1 wirklich klein aus.
Obwohl sich der Bau als recht einfach und schnell erweist ist es trotzdem ratsam, vorher wieder das Video von Battlefront anzusehen, da die beigelegte Anleitung keine große Hilfe ist. Auch der Rotor lässt sich leicht montieren. Die wenigen Teile mit flashy Gußgraten sind nicht wirklich ein Problem. Ich empfehle auch hier, die Bewaffnung seperat zu bemalen.

Airsupport will be provided by the AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter, which is smaller than the Hind. Its fuselage is just 13cm long, 3cm high (without the rotor) and 3.4cm wide (with side wings). With just two blades the rotor is only 14.4cm wide – so the appearance is quite small.
The assembly is simple and doesn’t take much time, but you should watch the guide of Battlefront as the manual inside the box is no help. Even the rotor is easy to do. There are only a few flashy parts, which is not a big deal at all.
I also recommend to paint the weapons and the helicopter itself separately.

Bannon’s Boys kommt mit einem kleinen Gimmick, dem Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds’ Battalion CP Objective. Es ist ein in einem Stück gegossener Resinmarker, welcher ein M577 Kommandofahrzeug darstellt. Die Qualität ist in Ordnung, nur die Oberfläche ist nicht so glatt, wie sein sollte. Allerdings ist es durchaus ein Kaufanreiz, wenn etwas Besonderes bei einem Deal dabei ist.

Bannon’s Boys comes with a small gimmick, the Lieutenant Colonel Reynolds’ Battalion CP Objective. It is a one-piece resin marker and shows a M577 command vehicle. The quality is okay, only the surface of the tank is not as smooth as it should be. But anyway, it is nice to get something special with the army deal.

Ebenfalls aus Resin – wenn auch aus einem weicheren – sind die Panzerkommandanten. Es stehen fünf verschiedene zur Auswahl. Der Guß ist gut, wenn auch hier und da etwas nachgebessert werden muss.

Also made out of resin – yet a softer kind – are the tank commanders. There are five different types. The sprue is casted finely, yet a little bit flashy.

Natürlich sind auch die neuen Einheitskarten und das Artillerie-Template dabei. Als Karten gibt es die Team Yankee Formation, eine Armored Combat Team HQ, zwei M1 Abrams Platoons? und einmal den AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter Platoon.

Of course there are the new unit cards and the artillery template included. Inside you will find the Team Yankee Formation, one armored Combat Team HQ, two M1 Abrams platoons and one AH-1 Cobra Attack Helicopter card.

Wie auch die russische Box ist Bannon’s Boys eine gute Gelegenheit mit Team Yankee anzufangen, außerdem gibt es ein Special Objective dazu. Wenn man also der Nato beitreten möchte, dann sollte man sich einen dieser American Spearhead Force-Armeedeals besorgen.

Like the Russian box, Bannon’s Boys is a good way to start with Team Yankee and you get a special objective. So if you want to join the Nato side you should purchase one of these American Spearhead Force army deals.
